A great way to get into shape is by having a regular workout routine. But, the words “regular routine” do not mean doing the same thing every time you work out is the best thing to do. It’s always important to change your workout routine in order to “shock” your muscles being worked and to keep your interests in the workout so you don’t get bored. Over time workout routines can become stale and a stale workout routine may put you in a slump in which you may become unmotivated or even stop working out.
Lifting weights is a great way to add strength and to sculpt a beautiful body, however you may not have an interest in those things. You don’t need to go crazy using heavy weights and over-straining your body to get the best results from this type of workout. A simple change from your regular cardio routine could be to go for a light jog to get your heart rate going, then do some lighter weight while keeping your heart rate elevated which will encourage you for consistent weight loss.
Even if you decide to lift weights to increase your muscle mass, using a bit of cardio in your routine can definitely help with your lung capacity and your heart strength. If you are someone who regularly does aerobic exercise, even you can mix it up by changing your exercise routine a bit. If you’re the type of person who usually just goes for jogs, you might want to try doing something different such as cardio dance classes to burn calories to the rhythm of music. If you’re the type that does cycling, you might want to try doing some laps jogging to see if you can work in some different muscle groups.
Doing a circuit training or boot camp type exercise could also be an exciting way for you to spice up your workout routine. These different types of exercises utilize a bit of variety for you to use in your exercise routine. A boot camp type of workout may incorporate different types of calisthenics such as push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, or pull-ups. Doing something like circuit training, where you do a series of cardio and weight training stations that alternate, might serve you well.
One thing that should be incorporated into whichever exercise routine you use should be stretching. Even if you’re looking for variety you still should incorporate stretching. Some decide to use stretching as the main body of their work out, it can be done with many forms of yoga, or you can use it for your warm-up and cool-down. Just keep in mind that stretching is one thing that should never be overlooked.
Also, when you are just starting your workout routine, don’t forget to modify your difficulty level and increase your intensity. Any type of variation will keep your workouts fresh and exciting, and your body will respond in a positive manner to the changes that you apply to your workout routine.
